Congratulations to Kerolin who has been named February’s Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month!
The Brazil international pipped City teammate Vivianne Miedema, Everton’s Martina Fernandez and Yuka Momiki, Spurs’ Olivia Holdt and Manchester United’s Julia Zigiotti to the prize.
It follows a fantastic month by the skilful forward who was instrumental in another strong period by Andrée Jeglertz’s side who remained at the division’s summit heading into the current international break.
Across three top-flight matches, Kerolin scored four goals and registered one assist.
This began with a memorable hat-trick in our precious 5-1 win over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium which handed us the perfect start to the month.
The 26-year-old opened the scoring with a well-taken half-volley in the opening stages before Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw doubled our advantage on the cusp of half-time.
Following the interval, she scored twice to complete her treble within nine minutes of the second half following a fantastic run into the box and a chip over Hannah Hampton before tucking home from close range.
A narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal followed, but we responded in spectacular fashion five days later against Leicester – with Kerolin key to the 6-0 success at the Joie Stadium.
With City possessing a three-goal lead after 36 minutes, the Brazilian assisted Yui Hasegawa’s goal ahead of half-time following a trademark run into the box before teeing up the Japan international.
She then wrote her name on the scoresheet after the break when she sent a vicious drive into the roof of the net ahead of Aoba Fujino rounding off the scoring.
Kerolin’s WSL award follows her January PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award!
