Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1, reigniting the Premier League title race, powered by Rayan Cherki’s stunning strike and Abdukodir Khusanov’s authority. Gianluigi Donnarumma’s mistake ended up costing only one goal.
After Kai Havertz had an effort ruled offside on 15 minutes, Cherki broke the deadlock on 16 with a solo burst of brilliance inside a crowded box. According to L'Équipe, the French playmaker remained a menace whenever he picked up possession around 20 metres out.
Havertz levelled on 18, his relentless pressing rewarded when he charged down Donnarumma after a heavy touch. The forward lacked accuracy with later chances at 40, 60 and 90+5, though his interplay looked far sharper than that usually offered by rival striker Viktor Gyökeres.
City’s winner stemmed from Donnarumma releasing quickly by hand, the move restoring City’s lead. The Italian keeper was otherwise given a four, his earlier lapse having invited Havertz’s equaliser.
Khusanov, formerly of Lens, dominated in central defence, barely losing a duel, calm on the ball and commanding in the air. Noni Madueke struggled and was withdrawn at half-time for Gabriel Martinelli after only 25 touches, 67% passing and 43% duels won. David Raya was not directly at fault for either City goal yet fell below his season’s exemplary level.
