This Sunday, Brest v Angers carries extra meaning for Corentin Tamrane, the Angers fan who went viral last summer in a SCO shirt bearing Rémy Labeau Lascary’s name. The Lens winger trained briefly with Alexandre Dujeux’s group, but his Angers loan was blocked by the DNCG on 29 August, hours after his unveiling, and he joined Brest two days later.
According to L'Équipe, the pair connected on Instagram and Labeau Lascary promised to give him his Brest shirt after Angers v Brest on 28 September, a 0-2 result on matchday six at Raymond-Kopa. They arranged to meet by the Colombier stand.
Labeau Lascary opened the scoring in front of that stand in the 26th minute, pleasing the fan, not his club. In the second half Tamrane then feared the worst as the number 14 went off injured in the 64th minute after a challenge by Jacques Ekomié.
After the game he learned the winger had dislocated his left elbow and been taken to Angers University Hospital. Tamrane checked in the next day, and the player asked how best to hand over the shirt.
They settled on Brest v Metz on 23 November, a 3-2 game on matchday 13 at Francis-Le Blé. Tamrane and a friend made the trip in a day, received two presidential-stand tickets from Rémy, then met after full-time. The shirt changed hands and they spoke about the dramatic game and the aborted move to SCO.
After the collapsed loan, Angers offered a refund or another home shirt bearing the name of a current player. Already owning a third kit for Prosper Peter, he requested the white away with Lilan Raolisoa, completing his season collection alongside the unique home top with Labeau Lascary’s name.
