Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci says he is on the right track after a calf problem, having overloaded himself on his return from the World Cup. He hopes to be back for Czechia’s home game against England in Prague on Tuesday night.
He missed Wolves’ Black Country derby win before the break and sat out Czechia’s Nations League defeat to Croatia on Saturday. According to iDNES, assistant coach Radek Bejbl said he has a strained calf after a demanding schedule and that it should be fine within a few days.
Speaking in his homeland, Krejci said: “I had some minor health issues and I missed the last match for the club. When I jumped straight back into action after the break following the World Cup, I ended up overloading myself. But things are on the right track now and I feel good.”
Head coach Cesar Peixoto said after the win over Albion that Krejci had not felt fit enough to be involved.
Krejci joined Wolves on loan from Girona last year, completing a permanent move to Molineux this summer. He was linked with a move away in the window, but no deal materialised.
Before the Croatia match, new boss Santi Denia praised his captain’s influence, describing Krejci as an outstanding player and a role model. Czechia are in Group C of the Nations League with World Cup holders Spain, England and Croatia, and face Spain on Saturday.
