LAFC’s Olivier Giroud wants to join Lille | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Lille OSC are confident that they will be able to secure the signing of Olivier Giroud (38) from LAFC this summer, as they look to bring in a new centre-forward to the club.

A number nine is the priority for Les Dogues, with Jonathan David (25) set to leave the club for free in a matter of days when his contract comes to an end, while Chuba Akpom (29) will return to Ajax following the end of his loan deal.

Foot Mercato writes that Lille have begun discussions with Giroud over a one-year contract, plus an optional one-year extension. Sources speaking to the French outlet assure that the Frenchman is interested in the project.

However, as reported by L’Équipe, there are some complications with the transfer, as his contract runs until the end of the calendar year, and LAFC have the option to extend it by a further year, and it is expected that they can offer far more remunerations than Lille.
