Olivier Giroud to discuss terms of departure with LAFC amid Lille interest | OneFootball

According to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Olivier Giroud (38) is set to discuss the terms of his departure from LAFC before agreeing on personal terms with Lille OSC.

As per Le Petit Lillois and confirmed by L’Équipe, Les Dogues have made an approach for France’s all-time top scorer, as they look for reinforcements to strengthen their forward line following the expected departures of Jonathan David (at the end of his contract) and Chuba Akpom (returning to parent club Ajax).

Foot Mercato further explained that Lille have offered Giroud a one-year contract, which will have the option to extend for a further year. The 2018 World Cup winner reportedly is interested in the project and wants to join Bruno Génésio’s squad.

However, he has a contract with LAFC until the end of the calendar year, and the MLS side have the option to extend this for another season. It remains to be seen whether the club will allow their 2024 signing to return to France where he has not played since leaving Montpellier HSC in 2012 for Arsenal.
