Lamine Yamal may not be called up for Spain this October. Barça and the Spanish federation are currently in discussions.

Just days before a new international break, Deco felt it was important to clarify the situation following the controversy surrounding Lamine Yamal's medical treatment during the last Spain squad gathering. Barça’s sporting director confirmed he has already spoken with Aitor Karanka, the new technical director of the Spanish national team, to ensure such incidents do not happen again. “There are no tensions, we have to use these situations to improve and not keep creating controversies where there aren’t any. I spoke with Karanka, and we’re going to improve protocols and communication,” Deco explained in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

The Portuguese executive also emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the club and the Federation: “The Spanish national team is important for Barça, and Barça is important for the national team. The fact that so many of our players are called up is a source of pride. Once the players are with the national team, it’s up to the coach to decide. We don’t want any controversy—just to improve communication so everything runs smoothly.”
