With Barcelona seeking a new striker after Robert Lewandowski’s departure, Lamine Yamal was asked to choose between Julián Álvarez and Mikel Oyarzabal.

“As long as he scores goals, I do not mind. I like Julián a lot, and I like Mikel too, obviously,” he told COPE.

“I think Deco is doing his job well. We will support whoever comes and we will be very happy with him.”

The Argentine forward at Atlético de Madrid has publicly said he will ask his club for a transfer, and everything points to Barcelona as his chosen destination.

Oyarzabal, Real Sociedad’s captain, fronted the launch of the club’s new kit yesterday and has consistently shown he is content at the club.

On the pitch, Mikel and Lamine linked up against Saudi Arabia, their move producing Spain’s first goal. That connection underpins much of La Roja’s hopes of progressing at this World Cup.
