Laura López targeted by sexist abuse after Calamocha appointment as club removes X post | OneFootball

Laura López, a physiotherapist with a long career in sport, has been targeted by sexist abuse after Calamocha announced her appointment on X, with replies fixating on her appearance.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the harassment then reached her directly via personal messages. López said she has received hundreds of messages since, feels overwhelmed, and wants the episode to pass.

She said she loves her profession and finds it hard to feel judged for how she looks rather than treated as another member of staff.

It is not the first time she has had to hear obscene remarks. She added that progress is being made, but there is still a long way to go.

Despite several unpleasant incidents and the recent furore, the Zaragoza-born physiotherapist is not considering leaving sport.

Calamocha removed the post that announced her arrival, but the story has spread on other X accounts and comments have continued.
