Lazio sign Daniel Maldini on loan from Atalanta with option and conditional obligation | OneFootball

Lazio have signed Atalanta attacking midfielder Daniel Maldini on loan until the end of the season, their fourth January arrival.

The club said in a statement that the 24-year-old has joined on a temporary deal that includes an option to buy and an obligation triggered by certain sporting objectives.

The Biancocelesti earlier brought in Serbian striker Petar Ratkov and Dutch midfielder Kenneth Taylor, replacing Taty Castellanos and Matteo Guendouzi. On Tuesday morning Christos Mandas completed a move to Bournemouth, with young Italian goalkeeper Edoardo Motta arriving to cover the Greek’s departure.

The Maldini announcement followed later on Tuesday in the capital. He will work under Maurizio Sarri for the remainder of the campaign.

A third-generation footballer, Maldini came through AC Milan’s academy, then had loans at Spezia and Empoli before joining Monza in January 2024.

After an encouraging spell at the U-Power Stadium that brought a senior Italy debut, he moved to Atalanta in January 2025 but struggled for continuity amid coaching changes and fierce competition. At Lazio he is expected to act as Mattia Zaccagni’s understudy on the left in Sarri’s 4-3-3.
