Lazio are preparing face to face talks with Raffaele Palladino and Gennaro Gattuso over the head coach position.
Il Messaggero reports that Palladino now tops the shortlist and will meet Claudio Lotito and senior officials, with a similar arrangement for Gattuso, who is expected in Rome soon. Il Corriere dello Sport adds that Lotito has already called the 48-year-old, whom he admires, and that Gattuso recently rejected Torino over financial terms.
Lotito will also meet Maurizio Sarri, with both parties keen to end their turbulent spell together. Sarri is close to an agreement with Atalanta, a move that would effectively release Palladino after joining La Dea in November. Incoming sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is determined to reunite with Sarri after three years together at Napoli.
While Palladino and Gattuso are seen as frontrunners, sporting director Angelo Fabiani is pushing Cagliari’s Fabio Pisacane. Sergio Conceicao remains an option, particularly if he leaves Al-Ittihad.
Thiago Motta is considered in the background, with fresh names also emerging. They include Hernan Crespo, recently departed Sao Paolo, and 40-year-old Alessio Lisci after guiding Osasuna to safety in LaLiga. Lazio’s focus, however, remains on Palladino and Gattuso.
