Lazio ‘to seek’ agreement with Ibe Hautekiet after Formello talks | OneFootball

Lazio are accelerating their move for Standard Liege centre-back Ibe Hautekiet, with club chiefs meeting his agents at Formello. Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the 24-year-old has become a priority as the club work on personal terms before approaching Standard Liege.

President Claudio Lotito attended Wednesday’s 4-0 pre-season win over Serie C neighbours Ostiamare, and his visit also included the talks with Hautekiet’s representatives.

The shift towards Hautekiet follows failed attempts to land Sergi Dominguez and Danish youngster Noah Markmann, with Gennaro Gattuso seeking another option at the back.

He is under contract until June 2029 and Standard Liege have already raised €13 million in summer sales, so they could keep him for another year. An enticing offer would be needed to persuade them. Transfermarkt values him at €4 million, but any fee would likely be higher.

At present, Oliver Provstgaard and Danilho Doekhi appear Gattuso’s main centre-back options after Mario Gila’s exit. Although recently reinstated, Alessio Romagnoli is still expected to depart before the window closes. Patric and Samuel Gigot are currently unavailable, a recurring issue over the past 12 months.
