Lazio are keen to recruit young Bayern Munich midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen, as the two clubs could resort to an increasingly popular formula in football transfers.
Earlier this week, the 20-year-old emerged as a serious target for the Biancocelesti, who are looking to add young, affordable, and promising players to Gennaro Gattuso’s ranks. Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani and Co. were said to be making swift progress on that front.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Asp Jensen’s transfer could cost Lazio €4 million, but the Bavarian giants would retain a sizable sell-on fee, guaranteeing them additional profit in case of a resale. This clause is becoming the norm nowadays, especially in transfers involving young players.
Asp Jensen was born and raised in a tiny Danish town called Gauerslund, and he went on to develop his game at various academies across the country. In 2022, Bayern Munich poached his services, adding him to their youth ranks.
This season, the youngster enjoyed a positive loan experience at Grosshoppers in the Swiss top flight. He made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing six assists. The youngster is primarily an attacking midfielder, but can play as a central midfielder or an inverted left-winger. His contract with the Bundesliga champions runs until June 2028.
