According to L'Équipe, Le Havre’s run-in is overshadowed by a survival fight and uncertainty over head coach Didier Digard and sporting director Mathieu Bodmer, amid talk of Bodmer joining Caen.
Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Marseille left Le Havre a point above Auxerre and Nice, who sit in the play-off place, with one game remaining.
Digard said he did not think Sunday was his last home game and that he, the president and board want to continue, though the final call is Blue Crow’s. The US owners, in since 27 June, have trimmed debt, spent nothing on transfers and pushed a 15% wage-bill cut, while keeping their sporting plan vague.
His deal expires in June and talks have yet to start. President Jean-Michel Roussier says discussions will begin once safety is secured and that he will take the final decision.
Both Digard and Bodmer have been courted by clubs in Europe’s top five leagues. Bodmer, who extended to 2027 last April after saying he intended to stay, is now said to be close to Caen, while Nasser Larguet could also arrive there as a technical adviser after leaving his Saudi Arabia role in June.
Bodmer says survival comes first, then he will review his position, and he has shown little appetite for multi-club ownership, adding to doubts around Blue Crow. Roussier says nothing is agreed over any exit. Off the pitch, Yacine Sossé Alaoui joins on one June as deputy chief executive, and Sunday’s trip to Lorient is pivotal.
