Leeds United beat Burnley 3-1 on Friday night, heaping further misery and pressure on 18th-placed Spurs. The win lifted Daniel Farke’s side above Newcastle into 14th, with Tottenham now nine points behind the Whites and four games remaining.
According to yorkshireevenpost.co.uk, Leeds are on 43 points and Farke was serenaded. Stach scored from distance, another goal came from a slick move and the third was scrappy. Leeds now have as many goals this season as Aston Villa.
Stach started after a brief lay-off and just 45 minutes against Chelsea, again showing Premier League quality. Jaka Bijol bossed Zian Flemming aerially and threaded the pass to Stach for the assist.
Referee Thomas Bramall had a bad night, labelled the worst officiating display of the season at Elland Road. Farke’s frustration grew through the first half, and he let several of his players know it.
Hannibal Mejbri was loudly booed after previous spitting towards the away end. He was dumped by Ethan Ampadu, then clipped Brenden Aaronson and was booked, heading straight down the tunnel at full-time.
Before kick-off chairman Paraag Marathe and club hierarchy walked the pitch after meeting the Supporters Advisory Board, while former chairman Andrea Radrizzani later embraced Marathe in the West Stand and posed for a photo with his son.
During the first half Mejbri disappeared down the tunnel for around 10 minutes, then exchanged words with a Leeds groundsman after planting a foot on a sprinkler, unhappy it had come on.
