Leeds United face fierce competition in the battle to sign Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi, who will leave the German side as a free agent.
Daniel Farke wants to sign the Dutchman, who has been a standout in the Bundesliga this season. Doekhi ranks sixth in the Bundesliga for interceptions this season and has proven to be a huge aerial threat in opposition boxes, scoring five league goals, and seven in all competitions.
The 6ft 3in defender is attracting considerable interest as he nears the end of his deal in the German capital.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Leeds face competition from Borussia Dortmund and teams in Saudi Arabia.
Dortmund are eyeing the centre-back as a replacement for Niklas Sule, who will leave the Westfalenstadion as a free agent in the summer. There is also ‘strong interest’ from the Saudi Pro League’s financial powers with several of the PIF-backed teams considering an approach.
Farke has been a long-term admirer of the 27-year-old, having been keen to bring Doekhi to former club Norwich City.
