Leeds fans unite at Elland Road to remember Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight | OneFootball

Elland Road filled on Saturday as Leeds United supporters came together to remember two fans killed in Istanbul 26 years ago.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, chairman Paraag Marathe and managing director Robbie Evans laid wreaths at the memorial plaque before a minute's applause ahead of kick-off.

During the game, thousands marked the occasion by turning their backs on the play, a gesture first made 26 years ago and repeated every year since.

The match itself ended 0-0 with Brentford, the football taking a back seat to the tributes.

Supporters travelled from Belfast, Norway and Malaysia to stand with the club, at the final Elland Road fixture before the anniversary on five April.
