Leeds United have loaned 17-year-old striker Harry Gray to League One Sheffield Wednesday.

The club said in a statement that Gray has joined the Owls on a season-long loan for 2026/27.

It became clear early last season that academy football offered him limited development. He struck 11 goals in 14 matches for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s, then pushed for senior minutes in the second half. Leeds agreed and arranged a January move to Rotherham United.

He entered a bleak relegation fight with the Millers, but gained regular minutes and vital exposure against seasoned pros. Gray led the line and featured wide, scoring three in 20 appearances.

Leeds hope this next step, with Wednesday, will bring more chances to score regularly. Gray has already linked up for pre-season. Wednesday are under new ownership, with former Leeds captain Liam Cooper signed for the coming campaign, and expectation is they will be among the promotion contenders.

Gray made his Leeds first-team debut at 16 against Stoke City in 2024/25 on the day promotion to the top flight was secured. Capped by England at Under-17 level, he now targets an immediate return to the Championship with Wednesday. Leeds intend to keep a close watch on his development at Hillsborough.
