Leeds United are set to send Harry Gray on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, despite interest from Huddersfield Town
Leeds United haven't been short of offers this summer regarding a season-long loan for one of their brightest young stars, Harry Gray, and it looks like the 17-year-old frontman will be sent to Sheffield Wednesday.
Gray comes from a long line of Leeds legends. His great-uncle, Eddie, is highly regarded as one of the greatest players in the club's storied history, and his brother Archie recently moved on to Tottenham Hotspur for over £30 million.
With the 17-year-old netting 15 times in 22 games for the Whites' under-21s side at such a young age, the future is definitely bright, and several League One sides were queuing up to oversee his next steps in 2026/27 after his first spell at Rotherham United in the second half of last season.
The Millers were a sinking ship in the third tier throughout 2026, but despite their eventual relegation, Gray managed three goals in 20 games for the struggling South Yorkshire side, giving hope that, if deployed in a better side in the same division, he could emerge as one of the top frontmen in it.

With early reports stating that Leeds' preference was once again to send their young prospect to another Yorkshire-based club so he could stay closer to home, both Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town were highlighted as frontrunners.
Now, it's emerged that the Owls are set to be successful in that pursuit, and Beren Cross of The Athletic has explained why.
"Leeds sources are keen for Gray to continue his development in League One with regular minutes at a club with an expectant crowd," he wrote on Thursday evening.
"Wednesday, who are under new ownership, have already sold more than 20,000 season tickets for 2026-27 and supporters are hopeful that the club can immediately bounce back after relegation."
Indeed, there's a newfound optimism at Hillsborough this summer as Sheffield Wednesday rebuild from the ashes of Dejphon Chansiri's reign, and there's some expectation that their stay in League One won't last too long, given the moves they've already made in the transfer market and the atmosphere around the club.
Wednesday sold out Hillsborough for the final game of last season against West Brom, with the Arise takeover announced pre-game. While the Owls won't be expecting 33,750 each week in League One, there's every likelihood that attendances could push that number more regularly, giving Gray an experience akin to a loud, packed Elland Road.
When comparing that to Huddersfield, whose atmosphere was tetchy at best throughout last season as the Terriers underachieved and finished outside the play-offs once again, sending Gray to the Accu Stadium may not be the smartest decision, especially given the fact the 17-year-old played at a club devoid of positivity last year, too.

With Sheffield Wednesday rebuilding throughout the squad this summer, they'll be targeting starters in almost every position, you'd imagine. Whereas at Huddersfield, the striker position is already quite saturated.
Martin Drury's side kicked off the window with the arrival of Ashley Fletcher, who scored 21 times in all competitions for Blackpool last season, and with him, Bojan Radulovic and possibly even Joe Taylor, if he stays, the Terriers have a strong frontline.
If Gray was sent across West Yorkshire from Leeds to Huddersfield, there's a likelihood that he would be third, perhaps even fourth-choice in his position, whereas at Sheffield Wednesday, starting minutes are more of a guarantee at this point.
Both will have similar aspirations of getting back into the Championship this season, and if the 17-year-old can contribute to that happening in a big way, he'd be in good standing to return to Elland Road and possibly earn some Premier League minutes.
