Leeds United appear ready to place fresh faith in Daniel Farke, with TEAMtalk reporting that talks over a new contract are moving positively.
It feels like a logical step. Farke has done more than merely steady Leeds since promotion. He has given the club shape, direction and, perhaps most importantly, calm. After an uncertain start to the campaign, when relegation fears were not unreasonable, Leeds grew into the Premier League with increasing authority.
TEAMtalk reports that “talks over an extension have been progressing for several weeks” and that “there is growing confidence on all sides that an agreement will be reached in the near future.”
For Leeds, this is about continuity. For Farke, it is about reward. For supporters, it is about whether the club now has the nerve to build properly.
The crucial tactical shift came with Farke’s move to a 3-4-1-1 system, a change that brought balance and helped Leeds climb away from danger. It gave the side structure without losing energy, and that mattered in a Premier League season where promoted clubs are often punished brutally for confusion.

TEAMtalk also reports that Farke “has a big buy-in from his players, who we understand love the culture that Farke has built.”
That line feels significant. Managers are often judged through results, but survival and an FA Cup semi-final appearance were built on something deeper. Leeds did not look like a side scrambling through the season. They looked like a team learning quickly.
Leeds’ next challenge is clear. If Farke is to sign a new deal, the squad must evolve with him. TEAMtalk states that the club want “four to five signings” this summer, with a goalkeeper, striker, left-sided defender and creative midfielder or winger among the priorities.
That strategy sounds sensible. Quality over quantity is often easier to say than deliver, but Leeds cannot afford a scattergun window. The reported success of Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson shows there is already trust in the recruitment structure.
Ethan Ampadu’s new contract was another important marker. Keeping leaders and backing the manager suggests Leeds are thinking beyond survival.
Farke has earned this moment. He returned Leeds to the Premier League, adapted when required, improved key players and helped restore credibility to the club’s direction.
A new deal would not guarantee progress, but it would confirm Leeds believe they have the right man for the next stage. In a league where panic is often mistaken for ambition, that matters.
From a Leeds supporter’s perspective, this feels like one of those decisions that should be straightforward, provided the club follows it with proper backing.
Farke has not been perfect, and no fan would claim every selection, substitution or tactical tweak has been beyond debate. Leeds fans are not short of opinions, especially when Elland Road gets restless. Still, the bigger picture is hard to ignore.
Promotion, Premier League survival, an FA Cup semi-final and a dressing room that appears fully behind him is a strong body of work. That deserves recognition.
The key issue now is ambition. A new contract for Farke only really makes sense if Leeds are serious about strengthening the squad. A striker feels vital. A creative player who can unlock tight matches feels just as important. The goalkeeper and left-sided defensive targets also suggest the club know where the gaps are.
There is always a fear at Leeds that momentum can be wasted. Supporters have seen good positions unravel before. This summer cannot be another case of talking a big game and leaving the manager short.
Farke has given Leeds stability. Now 49ers Enterprises and Paraag Marathe have to give him tools. If they do, this could become more than a survival story. It could become the start of Leeds looking upwards again.
