Leeds United are pushing hard to land Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Contacts are active. Italian transfer insider Gianluigi Longari broke the news on X, revealing that Elland Road chiefs have been aggressively chasing the Parma shot-stopper since mid-June. It is a bold, expensive move.
Parma are already planning for life without him. The Serie A side recently signed a young keeper, Giovanni Daffara, a move made with the clear expectation that Suzuki is about to bring in a massive profit. His stock has never been higher, fresh off a standout World Cup campaign with Japan. Rival clubs are hovering, threatening to turn this into a bidding war, but Leeds United have been on the front foot for weeks, trying to clear out the competition.

Daniel Farke wants a different profile in goal. A modern, proactive presence. Suzuki offers him an ideal option after a solid domestic season in Italy, where he clocked up 20 Serie A appearances, kept five clean sheets, and made 66 saves while conceding 28 goals. He has an imposing physical presence, completely commanding his penalty box, but it is his distribution that really moves the needle. He launches counterattacks in a flash.
Farke demands his teams build play from the back. It is a non-negotiable part of his tactical setup, making Suzuki the ideal target to initiate attacks.
Getting the deal over the line will require serious cash, though. Parma know the market is inflated and want at least €30 million, roughly £25.8 million, for their prized asset. Suzuki’s price tag solidified after he played the full 90 minutes against Brazil in the World Cup round of 32 yesterday.
Leeds United need to structure a front-loaded cash offer to get Parma to bite, potentially funding the move by selling existing squad players like Lucas Perri. The allure of English football gives Leeds a massive advantage, but they cannot afford to stall. Wealthier Premier League suitors like Aston Villa are watching closely. The hierarchy must act fast.
