Leeds United favourites for Harry Wilson free transfer as Aston Villa show interest | OneFootball

Leeds United have emerged as the bookmakers' favourites to sign Wales winger Harry Wilson on a free this summer, with Fulham offering a new contract as his current deal expires.

Aston Villa are also understood to be strongly interested. According to Wales Online, Benfica were briefly linked following the appointment of his former Fulham boss Marco Silva, but that interest has since cooled.

Villa can offer Champions League football, which may make them the preferred option at this point. Even so, a move to Elland Road carries appeal given the strong Welsh contingent already in place.

Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Daniel James are in the squad, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow is also on the books, although his contract is likewise close to its end.

Ampadu has spoken with Wilson and said he is trying to sell Leeds to everyone, calling it an easy sell and explaining the Wales camp speak glowingly about their time at the club. Those endorsements could strengthen Leeds' position in the chase for the 29-year-old.
