Leeds United are eyeing summer reinforcements, and TeamTalk claims they have 'joined the race' for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, with any deal potentially hinging on Boro’s promotion push and his contract to summer 2027, which could make this summer a possible last chance for a sizeable fee.

Leeds sit six points clear of the relegation zone after an upturn in form as they focus on securing Premier League status.

Hackney has been central to Boro’s promotion bid, contributing five goals and six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season. He also featured as England Under-21s were crowned European champions last summer.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are among the clubs to have tracked the midfielder.

Boro lost 3-1 at title rivals Coventry City on Monday, the Sky Blues moved top. Even so, they remain among the favourites after a strong four months under Swedish head coach Kim Hellberg. He has praised Hackney’s focus and all-round game, and expressed hope he stays, while noting any sale would not be his decision.
