Leeds United out-on-loan striker Joe Gelhardt has revealed he has not spoken to the Whites since last summer amid a brilliant season with Hull City in the Championship.

Gelhardt arrived at Hull from Leeds in the second half of the 2024/25 season in the winter transfer window and returned to the MKM Stadium on a season-long loan in the 2025 summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old made the first switch from Leeds to Hull due to a lack of minutes under Whites manager Daniel Farke, but after his arrival, he finished the 2024/25 season with five goals in 22 matches in the Championship.

Under manager Sergej Jakirovic, Gelhardt has made 34 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in all competitions this season.

Gelhardt revealed that he has not been in contact with anyone at Leeds since the start of the season, and is also unsure whether the Whites have contacted his agent regarding his future at the club.

The former England youth international believes Leeds want him to focus on playing, and that is exactly what he intends to do with the Tigers.

Gelhardt told Hull Live: “I haven’t spoken to anyone from Leeds since the start of the season.

“I don’t know if my agent has. He hasn’t told me if he has.

“I’m sure the clubs speak, I’m sure they have to, but yeah, not from my side, I think they’ve just let me focus on playing, which I don’t mind, to be fair.

“That’s my job, isn’t it, so that’s all I’m here to do.”

The 23-year-old has been brilliant for Hull in the league, scoring 13 goals and chipping in with four assists and manager Jakirovic is highly impressed with the Leeds loanee.

It is unclear whether Gelhardt has a future at Leeds, but if the Whites drop down to the Championship, he could be considered as an option, having proven his quality in the division.

Leeds are continuing to battle to survive in the Premier League and will be keeping an eye on how Gelhardt is performing as they could look to sell him if they secure their top flight status.

In that eventuality, Hull would surely be at the front of the queue, but other sides would also be alerted to the possibility of landing the hitman.
