Leeds United earned a gritty 0-0 at Liverpool, their point built on organisation and resolve. According to Leeds Live, James Justin topped the ratings after a standout display.
A subdued first half brought few chances for the visitors, though Hugo Ekitike squandered a clear opening. Lucas Perri spilled a routine effort on 12 minutes but recovered and handled solidly thereafter.
Liverpool carried the greater threat after the break, with Virgil Van Dijk and Cody Gakpo going close. Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the ball in the net, only for an offside call to rule it out. Leeds went toe to toe in spells and held firm late on.
Justin was outstanding, scoring nine. Debutant Sebastiaan Bornauw earned eight, as did Jaka Bijol, Pascal Strujik, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Ilia Gruev. Perri, Ethan Ampadu and Brenden Aaronson were given seven, Anton Stach and Lukas Nmecha six.
From the bench, Noah Okafor delivered a wicked cross and received seven. Calvert-Lewin, on at 70 minutes for Nmecha, was also marked seven after his disallowed finish. Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka arrived too late to rate.
Daniel Farke was marked eight, his set-up prioritising defence and his changes adding impetus while rotating ahead of Sunday. Ampadu’s yellow card for handball means he will miss the Manchester United match.
