Leeds United are lining up five further signings this summer following James Trafford’s expected arrival, Sky Sports claims.

Trafford is on the brink of a £40million move to Elland Road and is expected to become number one after Karl Darlow joined Manchester United, with Lucas Perri’s future uncertain.

The report also says Leeds will seek a back-up goalkeeper. Illan Meslier’s exit at the end of his contract has left Alex Cairns and Perri as the senior options, so Trafford’s signing would strengthen the department.

Leeds finished 14th last season, eight points clear of West Ham United in the final relegation place and six off a Europa Conference League berth. They will hope to push on in the new campaign.

The report adds that targets include a full-back, a winger, a central midfielder and a striker. Business so far features the free signing of Harry Wilson, who impressed for Fulham last season, and the arrival of Tarik Muharemovic.

Leeds are also looking for attacking reinforcements to ease the load on Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Talks were held with Julian Brandt after his Borussia Dortmund release, but he chose Ajax, pointing to a desire for a creative number 10.
