Leicester City’s search for more firepower has seen them linked with Birmingham City striker Lyndon Dykes, whose minutes have been limited in a World Cup year.

The Daily Mail claims the Foxes are considering a loan for the 30-year-old, who can operate as a No. nine or No. 10, and that he could fit their budget.

Dykes worked under Marti Cifuentes at Queens Park Rangers before joining Blues in summer 2024. He has made 11 league starts since, with former Leicester coach Chris Davies often favouring Jay Stansfield and Marvin Ducksch.

Signed late in that window for a League One club, he delivered key moments, including the Vertu Trophy semi-final goal that sent Blues to Wembley, and two important strikes off the bench this season.

He has tended to be more effective as an impact substitute, and when starting has not consistently convinced. He was close to a summer move when Hibernian showed interest, and a January exit has long felt possible.

There has been frustration about his playing time, and Blues are content for him to seek opportunities elsewhere, which would free room to recruit another striker.

Aerial strength is his standout attribute, showcased by headers against Bradford and Swansea, plus a fine finish against Lincoln in last season’s FA Cup. His scoring record has been a weakness, with his first League One goal last season arriving midway through the campaign. If Leicester want a forward to hold the ball up, link play and attack crosses, Dykes could fit.
