Only two of Leicester City’s nine signings, Jordan James and Divine Mukasa, have played more than a quarter of Championship minutes since arriving, LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports. A third could follow if Jamaal Lascelles stays in Gary Rowett’s back-line, but the overall return is underwhelming.
Asmir Begovic, 6/10, looked set to be Rowett’s number one before injury, though he has no clean sheets in nine league games. James, 9/10, has been the standout, high energy and leading scorer with assists, and if City stay up and his option remains, buying him should be straightforward.
Julian Carranza, 2/10, failed to score and left midway through a season-long loan, the striker move after Jamie Vardy’s exit that went badly. Aaron Ramsey, 4/10, impressed in autumn cameos but post-ACL muscle issues have limited him to three starts.
Fran Vieites, 3/10, has not played, serving as fit cover, despite starting and winning a Europa Conference League semi-final last season. Mukasa, 7/10, has invention, two-footedness, set-piece quality and dribbling, with inconsistency down to age rather than talent.
Lascelles, 6/10, was a gamble after 23 months out and has had fitness issues, but he looked strong and organised in the season’s best defensive display at Watford. If he plays and City survive, the deal stacks up.
Joe Aribo, 3/10, has offered energy when used, but Rowett has preferred James, Oli Skipp and Harry Winks. Dujuan Richards may yet emerge, though with Abdul Fatawu and Jeremy Monga ahead on the right, the move feels unnecessary.
