Léo Pereira enjoyed a light-hearted exchange with a Palmeiras supporter as he prepares to start for Brazil against France on Thursday 26, according to Coluna Do Fla. The Flamengo centre-back received his first call-up to the Seleção for this international window.
At the national team hotel, a Palmeiras fan teased him that Flamengo had taken their Libertadores crown. Pereira laughed and said it was part of football.
Flamengo and Palmeiras met on 29 November in Lima, Peru, for the Libertadores final. Filipe Luís’ side controlled much of the first half but did not score.
In the second half, at 21 minutes, Arrascaeta delivered a corner that found Danilo. The Flamengo defender rose between Gustavo Gómes and Bruno Fuchs to head in, sealing a fourth Libertadores title.
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Pereira will start the friendly as Brazil step up World Cup preparations. The match kicks off at 17:00 Brasília time at the Gillete Stadium in Boston.
Brazil then face Croatia on 31 March in Orlando to close out their warm-up schedule.
