For some time now, both Exequiel Palacios and Ernest Poku have looked likely to leave Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer window closes.
Ipswich Town are showing strong interest in Palacios, while reports from Italy have suggested that Fiorentina are on the verge of bringing Poku to Italy.
However, as Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes told reporters after Saturday’s 4-0 DFB-Pokal win over Wehen Wiesbaden, there is still no agreement in either case.
“What both cases have in common is that there is no agreement. There have been talks, that’s true, in both cases. But in neither case is it clear that a deal will happen,” Rolfes said.
Regarding Palacios, Rolfes confirmed that Ipswich have recently improved their offer, but Leverkusen are still holding out for a higher fee.
“It is indeed true that they have moved a little, but not in the way we would like,” he said.
Ipswich initially offered around €20 million, but a recent report from Argentina suggested that they had increased their bid to €30 million, including bonuses.
Leverkusen are reportedly demanding around €35-40 million for Palacios.
