According to BuLi News, Bayer Leverkusen have opened talks with Olympique de Marseille over Argentina international Facundo Medina as they step up plans to reinforce their defence.
Discussions are said to be under way, and the 27-year-old, who recently featured for Argentina in the World Cup final, is viewed as a versatile option at centre-back and on the left.
Medina only joined Marseille recently but has caught the eye with club and country. His calm use of the ball and ability to cover multiple roles are seen as a strong fit for Leverkusen’s style.
Leverkusen are also monitoring KRC Genk full-back Zakaria El Ouahdi as they explore options to strengthen the right side of their defence.
No agreement has been reached, but El Ouahdi remains a realistic option if they opt to add another full-back before the transfer window closes.
