Bayer Leverkusen are understood to have an interest in VfB Stuttgart forward Deniz Undav.
According to Sky Germany, Stuttgart and Undav have begun talks over a new deal beyond 2027, though negotiations are expected to be difficult due to his wage demands.
The report states the Germany international is seeking about €6 million per year, which would be higher than any salary previously paid by Stuttgart.
That raises doubts over whether an agreement can be reached, with leading clubs from Germany and abroad said to be monitoring the situation.
Undav, 29, remains under contract until the summer of 2027 and has been prolific this season, scoring 23 goals and supplying 13 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.
