Libertadores Feminina 2026 rules set, Quito named host and prize fund confirmed | OneFootball

Conmebol has awarded the 2026 Libertadores Feminina to Quito, Ecuador, with the tournament scheduled for 15-31 October.

According to Meu Timao, the regulations confirm a 16-team field, with 10 places for Conmebol members, four via historical ranking, one for the 2025 champions and one for the hosts.

Twelve clubs are already confirmed. Brazil will send Corinthians, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro, with further spots secured by teams from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Four berths will be decided in Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela.

The group draw will take place in September, date to be confirmed. Corinthians, as 2025 champions, are seeded in Group A. Group B goes to Independiente del Valle, while Groups C and D go to the two best-placed associations from the last edition.

The format features a single round-robin group stage, three matches per side, with the top two advancing to the quarter-finals. Knockouts follow through semi-finals and final, plus a third-place play-off.

Delegations may register 31 people, 23 players and eight staff, by 15 September, 18:00. Squads need at least 16 outfielders, two goalkeepers and at least two women on staff, with players aged 16 by 31 December 2026. Injury or illness replacements are allowed up to 48 hours before kick-off with Medical Commission approval, while goalkeepers may be replaced at any stage following certified serious injury, permanently. Prize money is US$2,000,000 for champions, US$600,000 for runners-up and US$250,000 for third, plus a trophy and 31 medals in gold, silver and bronze respectively.
