Liverpool have been given the signal they needed to trigger a massive sale.
There was some shock last week as it became known that Liverpool would in fact entertain the sale of Alisson Becker. There had been plenty of talk about move to Juventus before the season ended, only for it to go nowhere after the Old Lady failed to offer enough.
But it now appears that the Saudi Pro League would quite like Alisson. The player is open to it, too, and all it would take is the right offer.
Selling Alisson would necessitate a new goalkeeper, of course, as he remains Liverpool's no1. One option for that, linked months ago when the Juventus deal was still on, is Porto's Diogo Costa.
Costa is unquestionably one of the best goalkeepers around right now and he boasts a £51m release clause in his contract. He's gettable, in other words, should Liverpool want him.
We imagine they would, if Alisson left. But that means they must take the news this week as a signal to trigger a sale if it's going to happen.

Correio da Manha reports that Porto are worried that they'll have to accept £38m from Chelsea this summer. It's far below the release clause but the main fear is that a big club will eventually trigger the clause very late in the window.
That would leave Porto without the requisite time to replace their goalkeeper. Thus accepting the lower offer now is the safer option, even if it's the least lucrative.
Liverpool is a club who may well trigger that clause. Alisson could leave quite late in the window, leaving little time for a replacement - something that would necessarily matter if they plan to trigger a release clause.
But they can only do that if Costa is still available and Porto are teetering. A sale to Chelsea feels very real.
Liverpool, then, must make up their minds. If they want to sell Alisson then it has to happen ASAP while a player like Costa is there to replace him.
