Liverpool's defence is one of the main areas that needs upgrading this summer.
There have been times this term when it's felt like the Reds could actually win a game only for their defensive line to then go and let them down.
Virgil van Dijk has even performed below par this season with the Dutchman being a fraction of his former self.
With this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see that most of the players that Liverpool are being linked with are defenders.
And now, they've been handed a massive boost in their pursuit for one of their targets.
Much like Liverpool, Barcelona have already been linked with several players to try and improve their ranks.
The La Liga outfit were knocked out of the Champions League in the latter stages by Atletico Madrid which has forced them into looking ahead at the upcoming summer transfer window.
But, since Hansi Flick's men are under such harsh financial constraints, they have to move on one or two of their players to try and earn enough money to add to their squad.
And now, it seems like they could've moved a step closer to selling one of their many players who Liverpool have been linked with.
That is, if a report from Sky Sports Switzerland is to be believed.
"Wesley Fofana's name is circulating in Catalonia. According to our information, the Chelsea FC centre-back was recently offered to FC Barcelona by his representatives," they wrote.
"His profile has not gone unnoticed by the Blaugrana management, to the point that the file has been studied and added to an extended internal list.
"While no decision has yet been made, Barça is anticipating various scenarios for the next transfer window.
"The Catalan club's priority is to strengthen the left side of its defense, with a particular interest in Alessandro Bastoni. However, the club's management is also considering the possibility of a right-back leaving, which requires them to explore other options.
"Chelsea's position isn't entirely closed. The Blues aren't opposed to a departure, but they're waiting for an offer of at least €30 million, excluding bonuses, before considering a transfer.
"Meanwhile, Barcelona's management is exploring a different approach: a loan with an option to buy
Jules Kounde has been one of Barcelona's most consistent defenders over the last couple of years.
The Frenchman is a natural centre-back but, due to his speed, physicality and his ability to ping a ball across the pitch, Flick has opted to use him as a right-back on multiple occasions.
Both of these areas have been problem positions for Liverpool this season with the fitness of Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley being their main issues at right-back and one of the main reasons why Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai have been used there this term.
Kounde is a versatile defender and, although he may be a tad older than the Reds' usual targets at 27 years old, his experience and ability to fit straight into Slot's team is hard to look past.
In fact, the defender is that good that his current manager has even described his performances as "unbelievable."
Although to get over the line, it would almost certainly be worth it.
