Reds handed double fitness boost
Bradley Barcola starts Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Fulham this weekend, with Cody Gakpo on the bench.
The France international was handed his full Liverpool debut in the Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, though was substituted on the hour mark which sparked fears of an injury blow.
However, Andoni Iraola allayed those fears by insisting the £123million summer signing from Paris Saint-Germain was suffering from cramp.
Iraola also provided an update on Gakpo. The Dutchman, who has a goal contribution in every Premier League match so far this season, missed the win over Atletico with an adductor issue but is on the bench for the visit of the Cottagers.
Cody Gakpo is a major doubt for Liverpool vs Fulham
Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz come in as Gakpo is not fit enough to start, while Jeremie Frimpong is on the bench along with Milos Kerkez.
Interestingly, Konstantinos Tsimikas gets the nod at left-back after Milos Kerkez suffered from cramp late on in the Champions League tie.
Alisson Becker has been cleared to feature despite being fined by the FA (Football Association) for misconduct in the wake of Liverpool’s draw with Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool XI: Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Munoz, Wirtz, Barcola; Isak
