Palmeiras forward Luighi has filed a police report for assault after a post-match bust-up at Neo Química Arena on Sunday. A forensic exam found a neck injury from a slap received shortly after the 0-0 draw with Corinthians.

According to Globo.com, the No 31 lodged the complaint at the arena’s special criminal court with club support, while Corinthians goalkeeping coach Luiz Fernando dos Santos, suspected of delivering the slap, also gave a statement.

Authorities offered to close the case through donations of basic food baskets by those involved. Luighi and Palmeiras rejected that option, arguing the player was the victim.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office will now decide whether to advance the case or archive it.

The incident occurred as Luighi headed for his post-match anti-doping test amid a broader melee near the dressing rooms. Corinthians said Gabriel Paulista and Breno Bidon were assaulted by Palmeiras security.

In his match report, referee Flávio Rodrigues de Souza said he did not witness assaults on players from either side. He recorded that a Corinthians security guard pushed Luighi as he tried to reach the doping room, and that Palmeiras director Anderson Barros and Corinthians head coach Fernando Diniz helped to contain the scuffle.
