Luiz Araújo promises Flamengo will treat Libertadores group games like finals | OneFootball

Luiz Araújo has pledged that Flamengo will approach every Libertadores group match as a final after the 2026 draw placed the holders in Group A.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Conmebol conducted the draw on Thursday, with Flamengo set to face Estudiantes (ARG), Cusco (PER) and Independiente Medellin (COL) in the section.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the 3-0 Brasileirão win against Remo, Araújo said the squad would give 100 per cent and treat every opponent as the toughest. He added they will go in with everything and hope to lift another trophy.

The group stage is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, seven April. The last 16 is slated for 11 to 20 August, quarter-finals for eight to 17 September, and semi-finals for 14 to 22 October. The final is set for 28 November.

Before then, Flamengo focus on the Campeonato Brasileiro. They visit Corinthians at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, 22, in round eight, with kick-off at 20:30 Brasília time.
