The Blues are believed to be looking to add another midfielder this summer as they look to ease the burden on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea have a number of options, but with doubts over Romeo Lavia’s fitness, and with Dario Essugo likely in need of a loan, you can see why the Blues are in the market.

Chelsea want to be kept informed on Adam Wharton situation

The Blues have been linked with both Wharton and Elliot Anderson, who are going to attract interest from a number of clubs and likely command huge fees.

It’s unclear if Chelsea are looking for another squad player, or a player of starting quality, and it’ll be interesting to see if they’d be prepared to spend big in midfield again.

Chelsea were linked with Wharton when he was at Blackburn Rovers, and Mail Sport have reported the Blues have asked to be kept up to date on the situation.

The report adds Chelsea could rival United for his signature, whilst Real Madrid have him third on their list behind Rodri and Fernandez.

The 22-year-old has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, and has registered seven assists, whilst he’s under contract until 2029.

The Spaniard gave an explosive interview in The Athletic, which went down well with supporters, but how it’ll be received by the club remains to be seen.

It could have an impact on his future as he’ll have just two years left on his deal in the summer, and a decision will need to be made on whether to sell or extend.
