Mallorca release emotional statement in response to La Liga relegation | OneFootball

RCD Mallorca have unveiled a heartfelt statement, in response to the club being condemned to a shock relegation from Spain’s top-flight.

The final round of this past season’s La Liga fixtures were of course played out on Saturday night.

As part of the gameweek, Mallorca were pitted against the already-relegated Real Oviedo.

When all was said and done, the Bermellones emerged on the right side of a dominant 3-0 result, to close out the campaign in positive fashion.

Owing to results around them in the table, however, Martín Demichelis’ troops were forced to come to terms with an 18th-placed finish.

This means that Mallorca will not be plying their trade in the top tier of Spanish football in 2026/27.

And as alluded to above, the Balearic club have since reacted to their devastating drop, by way of an emotional statement across social media.

In a post on ‘X’ late on Saturday, Mallorca wrote:

‘With tears in our eyes and pain in our hearts, today we must face a very hard blow.

‘We know what it means. We know what hurts. And we understand the anger, sadness, and disappointment of every Mallorca fan. That’s why we can only ask for forgiveness.

‘It’s time to accept it, stand up, and start over. With more responsibility than ever.’
