Manchester United continued their brilliant start under interim manager Michael Carrick, defeating Fulham 3-2 at Old Trafford in a Premier League thriller on Sunday.
Amad Diallo’s curling effort early in the game was parried away by Bernd Leno. The German goalkeeper saved Harry Maguire’s header moments later.
Joachim Andersen called Senne Lammens into action for the first time, but he pushed the effort behind.
Casemiro put Man United ahead in the 19th minute, rising highest to thump Bruno Fernandes’s free-kick into the far corner.
Alex Iwobi rifled a long-range shot that Lammens saved comfortably, which was the last chance before the break.
The second half started frenetically with chances at both ends.
Leno came off his line to smother Bryan Mbeumo’s effort, before Lisandro Martinez made a timely clearance to thwart Samuel Chukwueze’s dangerous cross.
Lammens then made a superb stop to keep out Harry Wilson’s free-kick, preserving United’s lead.
United doubled their advantage as Casemiro threaded a pass to Matheus Cunha, who rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
Jorge Cuenca thought he had halved the Cottagers’ deficit after 67 minutes with a tap-in from close range, but his effort was deemed offside.
Raul Jimenez made it 2-1 five minutes from time, converting a penalty he won himself.
Substitute Kevin equalised in stoppage time, beating Lammens with a curling strike. It was his first Premier League goal.
However, Benjamin Sesko restored United’s lead with a side-footed finish to make it 3-2, bringing an end to an enthralling encounter.
