Man United asked for a Barcelona youngster in Marcus Rashford transfer talks | OneFootball

The brass at Premier League giants Manchester United requested the inclusion of a member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona in negotiations over the transfer of Marcus Rashford this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.

Frontman Rashford of course spent last season plying his trade in Catalunya’s capital, on loan from the aforementioned Man United.

Barcelona secured a purchase option as part of the deal, worth a fee in the region of €30 million. In the end, however, the Blaugrana opted against activating as much, to instead pivot focus towards the addition of Anthony Gordon.

Whilst talks were ongoing between the respective boards at the Camp Nou and Old Trafford, though, the latter made known their interest in none other than Marc Bernal.

As per a report from MD:

‘Manchester United agreed to negotiate the transfer of Marcus Rashford, who had a €30 million release clause with Barça, on one condition: that Marc Bernal be included in the deal.’

Both Barca and the midfield starlet himself, however, were unwavering in their stance that he will be going nowhere this summer.
