Manchester United academy midfielder Ruben Curley has sent an emotional message to his boyhood club after sealing a permanent move to Stoke City.
The 19 year old was one of numerous departures from the academy side to lower league teams this window.
Nonetheless, he was the only permanent sale away from the club and he will join up with the Championship outfit in search of greater game time.
The midfielder played seven times for the under 21s this season, providing one assist.
Curley took to Instagram to pen an emotional goodbye to the club he has called home for the vast majority of his life.
“For the past 13 years, Manchester United has been my home. I’ve made some unforgettable memories and met some lifelong friends as well as all the amazing experiences this club has given me.”
The 19 year old took the time to thank the plethora of coaches and staffs that assisted him during his “highs and lows” at the club.
He also wished his teammates all the best and luck for the future as they aim to break into the senior squad at Old Trafford.
“It’s been an extremely tough decision but I feel it’s the right time to move on and take on new challenges.”
“Thank you Manchester United and all of the fans that make this club so special. Once a red, always a red.”
Curley posted the statement alongside a picture of him standing outside the Academy Training centre at Littleton Road when he was a child.
It will have been a tough decision for the youngster to make but with a place in the first team squad looking a long shot, he will hope to gain access to senior football faster at the Bet365 Stadium.
