Man Utd man’s agent gets ball rolling for summer transfer by ‘offering’ him to three European giants

Manuel Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has begun putting the wheels in motion for a summer transfer.

The midfielder is expected to be sold by Manchester United just two years on from his £50.5 million switch from Paris Saint-Germain.

Who has Ugarte’s agent been in contact with?

Now, fans have an idea where he may end up.

According to one journalist, Mendes has ‘offered’ his client to three Italian giants: AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli.

Of the trio, United maintain a strong relationship with the Naples outfit due to their recent negotiations for Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund, the latter of which will join the club permanently when his loan comes to an end this summer.

As for Juventus, they sent representatives to watch Ugarte in action over the break when Uruguay faced Algeria in Turin.

It remains to be seen which side the 25-year-old would prefer to join, or whether any will actually take up Mendes’ proposal by pursuing a deal.

From now until the end of the term, Ugarte will be playing – on the rare occasions he does – to impress any potential suitors before the window opens in June.

However, his priority will be solely on the World Cup as soon as the season ends, so any discussions over his future may have to wait until Marcelo Bielsa’s team finish their campaign.

Who might the Reds bring in when Ugarte leaves?

Offloading Ugarte means United can reinvest the funds across the squad as INEOS prepare for a major midfield overhaul, which will start when Casemiro departs as a free agent in June.

The likes of Adam Wharton, Bruno Guimaraes, Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali have all been linked with Old Trafford moves.
