Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City beat Burnley 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium. A brace from Erling Haaland, two own goals from Burnley defender Maxime Estève and a Matheus Nunes goal were enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to pick up all three points. Manchester City are now unbeaten in five games in all competitions and are building into the 25/26 season.
Here are the City player ratings from a game where City weren’t at their best for an hour, but then a late surge saw them pick up a vital three points.
Gianluigi Donnarumma-6/10: Didn’t do anything wrong in goal. Made one good save and could do nothing about Burnley’s goal.
Matheus Nunes-7.5/10: Grabbed an assist and scored a goal. Did what he had to do in possession well. Defensively, he needs to improve regarding his positioning.
Ruben Dias-6.5/10: Did the job he was required to do throughout the full 90 minutes.
Josko Gvardiol-7/10: I thought Gvardiol was Manchester City’s best defensive player before he was taken off in the 70th minute. He won his headers well and was a threat in possession.
Nico O’Reilly-7/10: A good performance from O’Reilly. Defended well and got forward with intent, where he and Doku combined well when City had possession.
Nico-7.5/10: I liked Nico’s game as he read the game well and helped City dominate possession.
Tijjani Reijnders-6.5/10: Had some quality moments, but his end product was lacking. Did his job well before he was substituted.
Phil Foden-7.5/10: Another good performance from Foden. Played a key role in several of Manchester City’s goals and is building into this season well.
Savinho-5/10: A poor performance from Savinho. Didn’t affect the game as he would have liked.
Jeremy Doku-9/10: Manchester City’s man-of-the-match in my opinion. Doku was a constant threat with the ball at his feet and on form, he is probably the best winger in the Premier.
Erling Haaland-8.5/10: Scored a brace and grabbed an assist. He was subdued until he scored a late brace.
Oscar Bobb-7/10: Gave Manchester City a threat on the right wing after replacing Savinho. A good display off the bench from Bobb.
Nathan Ake- N/A: Not on long enough to mark.
Bernardo Silva-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.
Rico Lewis-N/A: -Not on long enough to mark.
