Fresh reports from German media are reporting that Manchester City have found an agreement with Nottingham Forest for England international Elliot Anderson.
Anderson has been Manchester City‘s primary transfer target throughout the summer window, with the 23-year-old identified as the central pillar of incoming manager Enzo Maresca‘s midfield rebuild at the Etihad Stadium.
City have seen two bids rejected by Nottingham Forest for Anderson so far, with City Ground director George Syrianos is understood to have held firm throughout negotiations on the club’s valuation of the England international.
Elliot Anderson on brink of British record Man City transfer amid £130M Forest demand
Reports from earlier this week had suggested that further talks were expected between the two clubs imminently, with Forest understood to be holding out for a total package worth close to £130 million, a figure that has now been surpassed by the fee confirmed in today’s update.
According to SportBILD, City will pay around €150 million for Anderson, surpassing the current British transfer record held by Liverpool and their €145 million deal for Alexander Isak last summer.
Syrianos is said to have consistently insisted on a new record fee for the midfielder throughout negotiations, recognising Anderson’s profile as both a star of the Premier League and a key figure in Thomas Tuchel‘s England side at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in North America.
Sport Witness speculate that the information contained within the SportBILD report is likely to have originated from Syrianos himself, or at least from within his team, lending the figures a degree of credibility given Forest’s central role in the negotiations.
A deal at €150 million would represent not only a new British transfer record but a statement of intent from City director of football Hugo Viana as he oversees the most significant squad rebuild in the club’s recent history.
Anderson’s arrival would address one of the most pressing areas of concern heading into the 2026-27 season, with the departures of club captain Bernardo Silva and John Stones leaving Maresca with considerable ground to cover in midfield before the new campaign begins.

The 23-year-old’s carrying ability, range of passing and physical presence from deep make him one of the most complete midfield profiles in the Premier League – and his performances for Tuchel’s England side at the World Cup have only served to reinforce that standing ahead of what would be a record-breaking move to the Etihad Stadium.
