Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland has set yet another Fantasy Premier League (FPL) record by becoming the most expensive player of all time, being priced at £15.5 million for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Norwegian star broke his own previous record of £15 million from the 2024-25 FPL season and also surpassed Mohamed Salah‘s £14.5 million price last campaign, which is the third-highest in the game’s history.

With this new record price, Haaland has now been named four times in the list of FPL’s nine most expensive players of all time, after being valued at £14 million at the start of both the 2023-24 and 2025-26 terms.

The 26-year-old’s current valuation is a £1.5 million increase from the starting figure of the previous season, which at one point saw his price rise to £15.1 million.

How did Man City’s Erling Haaland fare in 2025-26 FPL season?

Haaland ranked on top of the FPL player charts last season with 239 points after netting 27 goals and providing eight assists in 35 league appearances.

His stellar contributions for Manchester City in the top flight earned him his third Premier League Golden Boot following his first two awards in the 2022-23 (36 goals) and 2023-24 (27 goals) seasons.

The star forward was the most-owned and most-captained player in any gameweek in the 2025-26 campaign.

Will Erling Haaland’s increased price affect FPL selections?

Haaland’s hefty price tag for the upcoming season will call for more strategic planning from FPL managers, who would like to have the Manchester City star in their 15-player squad.

After being allocated a £100 million budget to start the season, managers with the Bryne graduate in their fantasy team will be left with only £84.5 million to spend on the other 14 players.

While owning him will require FPL managers to make tough choices in other roles, Haaland is still expected to make it to most teams, especially given his illustrious reputation as a must-have.

The forward has been the top-scorer after the first six gameweeks in all four of his seasons at Manchester City.

Considering that he has averaged nine goals over the first six gameweeks in each campaign, excluding Haaland from their FPL teams is deemed to be a high-risk decision that most managers would be against.

Manchester City’s initial schedule in the top flight, which includes matches against newly promoted sides Coventry City and Ipswich Town in gameweeks 3 and 7, respectively, also favours the player’s FPL selection.

With FPL’s Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR) determining City’s clashes against Coventry and Ipswich, alongside their home match against Sunderland in Gameweek 5, to score only two, Haaland could also become a popular choice for the first Triple Captain chip of the season.

As for now, FPL managers will keep monitoring the Norwegian’s pre-season matches for Manchester City after he registered seven goals in the 2026 World Cup.

It remains to be seen if Haaland, along with the rest of Enzo Maresca’s squad, is able to hold his spot as an absolute FPL favourite and defend his early-season history, starting with their Premier League opener against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on August 23.
