It’s a summer of transition at Newcastle, with Eddie Howe set to step down from his role as manager after five years, and Al-Ahli head coach Matthias Jaissle due to replace him. Newcastle have sold key figures in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, while Bruno Guimaraes is expected to leave for Arsenal.

The Magpies have focused on youthful recruitment, and Manchester United are now seeking to exploit their rebuild with a bid for Hall. The Red Devils view the 21-year-old as a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw and are preparing a proposal for the £60m-rated defender, according to TEAMtalk.

Manchester United view Santander’s Salinas as Lewis Hall alternative

Racing Santander teenager Jorge Salinas has emerged as one of the leading alternatives, if a deal for Hall cannot be done.

The 19-year-old impressed for Spain at the u-19 European Championship over the summer and made 33 first-team appearances last season as Santander secured promotion back to La Liga. However, United face competition from Barcelona who are pushing to sign Salinas.
