Manuel Neuer will become the most-capped goalkeeper in World Cup history on Saturday, his 21st appearance coming against Côte d'Ivoire.
The 40-year-old has come out of international retirement for this World Cup and starts at 22:00. L'Équipe reports that this latest selection moves him clear at the top of the list.
The Munich goalkeeper had drawn level during Germany's 7-1 win over Curaçao.
He overtakes Hugo Lloris, who played 20 World Cup matches. The French goalkeeper featured at four editions, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.
Neuer is at his fifth World Cup. Depending on Germany's progress in the tournament, he could extend the gap further.
