Marco Silva is claimed to have rejected Nottingham Forest, with Benfica tipped as his next job.

A Bola reports that Silva will not stay at Fulham and that Benfica have moved for him. They are planning for the likely exit of Jose Mourinho, who looks set to head to Real Madrid. The report adds that contact has been made, Silva is very interested, and movement could come next week, though any clarity is unlikely before the Premier League season ends.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is a long-time admirer of Silva. The pair worked together at Olympiacos in 2015-2016, winning the Super League.

Silva’s contract at Craven Cottage expires this summer. A new deal has been offered and he has drawn admirers, with Chelsea and clubs in Saudi Arabia linked. Forest were also touted if they chose to make a change in the dugout.

Vitor Pereira became the Reds’ fourth head coach of the season when he replaced Sean Dyche in February. He has since secured safety with two games to spare and led Forest to the Europa League semi-finals.

Before Sunday’s 12.30pm trip to Manchester United, Pereira said Forest have strong foundations and that planning for 2026/27 is under way. He felt that with alignment and energy they could build something strong and fight for different targets. He said focus is on the final two matches, with decisions to follow.
